Apologies if you get this twice, hushmail is possibly the worst free e-mail service there is. I am looking for some honest information from all of you. I am planning on investing a little bit of money into getting a basic bedroom studio and I am looking for some well-thought, honest answers to some questions that I am sure you have heard hundreds of times! What kind of gear should I buy? The traits I am looking for are reliability, good quality sound and good price. I know you can't have all of these, but I think you see what I am getting at. Basically I want high quality without a lot of extra features that I probably will never use. If you have any info from personal use of a product and have something to recommend that Iook at, I would really appreciate an e-mail from you letting me know what you have to say about something! Mixer for my turntables (Looking at a new djm-300 for $365 right now, any better values than this?) Headphones for hone audio/DJ use (rugged, but good sound quality, Sony MDR- 700?) Studio Monitors (Event 20/20?, more on this below) Soundcard for PC with MIDI support (looking at MidiMan Audiophile 24/96) Stereo Receiver (more on this below) Midi Keyboard Controller (a nice, solid, big controller with assignable knobs and faders with real keys would be nice!) About the monitors. I am also looking for opinions on buying powered monitors vs unpowered monitors. I will probably end up getting a receiver, so I guess I was wondering how much the receiver would affect them in relation to each other (ie: sound quality of Event 20/20 vs 20/20bas?). I am probably going to end up hooking my TV, PC, and other music/video gear into it, so I would like to have a nice clear and loud sound coming from the speakers. Thanks for reading this post this far! I am just looking for additional info from people with experience with this stuff before I go out and drop alot of money into it. Thanks ahead of time for anyone who replies! joe. italic@hushmail.com Free, encrypted, secure Web-based email at www.hushmail.com
